About and privacy
notepads.free gives you a notepad and a link. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no cookies.
Who can see a notepad
Anyone who has one of its links. Each notepad has an edit link and a view-only link, and both are long and random, so they can’t realistically be guessed. Notepads aren’t listed anywhere, and we ask search engines not to index them.
A link can be forwarded, though, and it can’t be changed. Notepads also aren’t end-to-end encrypted, so they’re stored in a form the people running this site can read. Don’t use them for passwords or anything else that would hurt if it got out.
What we store
- What you write, and when the notepad was created, changed and last opened.
- A scrambled version of your network address, used to limit how quickly notepads can be created. It’s deleted within about a day.
- Technical server logs. Like most websites, our server may keep short-lived logs of IP addresses and pages requested, to keep the site running.
- Reports, including any contact details you choose to include.
“My notepads” lives only in your browser. We never see it, and clearing your browser data erases it.
How long notepads last
A notepad is kept until someone deletes it, or until nobody has opened it for 365 days. Deleting is immediate and can’t be undone, though a copy can remain in our backups for a limited time.
This is a free service with no guarantees. Keep your own copy of anything important: every notepad can be downloaded as a text file.
Rules
Don’t use notepads for anything illegal, for malware or phishing, for spam, or to harass or expose people. We remove notepads that break these rules, without notice. If you see one, please report it.
